Software Engineer - Full Stack

Turbine Labs (www.turbinelabs.com) is looking for Full Stack Software Engineers ready to join our flight plan in Denver, Colorado.

So...you dream big, huh? Consider this:

  • The growth rate of human created data is exponential. And it’s only accelerating. (Zettabytes)

  • Fake news and polarization has resulted in a substantial decline in public trust. (Less than 5%)

  • Over the last 10 years, average attention span has declined by one third. (8 seconds!)

  • Media news cycles are growing in amplitude and in momentum. (Kardashians)

These shifts in the information landscape present a massive challenge for executives, policy makers, lobbyists, and political campaigns. They don’t know where to obtain trustworthy information. They don’t know what information to trust. They don’t have patience to sort signal from noise. And they don’t have time to waste.

Turbine Labs has developed an AI-powered software platform to help global leaders and stakeholders remove barriers to access and leverage accurate, unbiased information. So they can make decisions that shape commerce, the economy, policy, and society. Better and faster than ever before.

And we’d like you to come help us hack and build it into something even better.

An ideal applicant is:

  • Eager to work independently - and as part of a team - to build & integrate new functionality into the platform.

  • A self-starter who demonstrates project and task ownership from conception through delivery.

  • Diligent in documenting progress, issues, writing tests, and laying groundwork for scalability.

  • Crafty in finding non-obvious solutions to challenging problems.

  • Focused on shipping quality products quickly.

  • Transparent in both person-to-person communication and in code.

  • Passionate about creating their own path to success.

We expect the ideal applicant to:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline (e.g. data science, statistics) plus 2-4 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, completion from a leading coding school (Galvanize, General Assembly, Turing School, HackReactor, Launch Academy, Bloc.io, etc.) plus 3-5 years experience.

  • Prototype solutions quickly using Python

  • Be a PHP rockstar with experience creating, deploying, and maintaining web apps

  • Have experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases

Bonus points for the following:

  • Docker

  • Elasticsearch

  • GitLab CI/CD

  • Google Cloud or AWS (VM optimization, maintenance, networking)

  • Kubernetes

  • ORO

Turbine Labs offers:

  • Competitive salary and stock options commensurate with experience

  • Company-sponsored benefits: Medical, Dental, and Life

  • Supportive and collaborative work environment

  • 180-degree views of the Rocky Mountains

  • Company-sponsored events

  • Generous PTO policy

To apply for this position, please send your CV and work sample: (i.e. url of a website you coded in PHP, or Python program with an explanation of what it does) to Erica Schecher, Employee Experience Manager.

BTW - we give out a free Turbine Labs “Mullet” t-shirt at the end of every in-person interview. But you have to ask for it. ;)
